While the public health consequences of the virus have gradually become somewhat clearer, the economic fallout of the actions that have been taken are still very much unknown.

Annual Review 2019

As the 2010s ended, stock markets around the world closed off on a high note. In local currency terms, the S&P/TSX Composite, the S&P 500 and the MSCI EAFE returned 23%, 31% and 22% respectively during the year.

Third Quarter 2019

After a strong rise in stock prices globally this year, the S&P 500 Index and the S&P/TSX Composite Index both reached all‐time highs while the MSCI EAFE reached its highest level since the onset of the Global Financial Crisis of 2008.

Two years after long‐term government bond yields began to rise from historic lows, rates have fallen again. The 10‐year U.S. Treasury bond yield recently fell below 2% while the 10‐year Government of Canada bond yield fell to 1.5%, levels not seen since 2016 during the height of the deflation scare.
